...RAINFALL RETURNS TO DEEP SOUTH TEXAS...

SEVERAL DAYS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTED DEEP SOUTH TEXAS
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST AS AN UNSEASONABLE WEATHER PATTERN SET
UP ACROSS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM MOVED OUT OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS AND INTO THE STATE OF
TEXAS...SENDING PIECES OF ATMOSPHERIC ENERGY INTO THE LOWER RIO
GRANDE VALLEY. THIS...COMBINED WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF MOISTURE IN THE
AREA...ALLOWED MANY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO PRODUCE HEAVY
AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. MAJOR FLASH FLOODING
OCCURRED IN SOUTHWESTERN STARR COUNTY.

THE FOLLOWING ARE PRELIMINARY REPORTED RAINFALL TOTALS FROM AUGUST
13TH THROUGH 8 AM THIS MORNING. THESE VALUES WILL BE UPDATED AS MORE
INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE...OR AS NEEDED.
