At the Colonial Grand Apartments, mulitple trees were snapped and uprooted. The tornado moved northeast and caused more damage at the Cedar Brook Apartments. Multiple trees were snapped off and major roof damage occurred when a brick fire wall used to separate units collapsed.

After investigating a very complex pattern of widespread damage with both a ground survey team and an aerial survey, surveys teams concluded that a portion of the damage in the city of Leeds was caused by a tornado. The tornado touched down east of Interstate 20 near Henry Ellen Rd, where trees falling on a mobile home caused one fatality to an elderly woman. The tornado tracked east-southeastward, roughly between the railroad tracks and US-78 towards the city center. There was significant roof damage to several buildings along Highway 78 from Leeds City Park in the downtown area, windows were blown out of several businesses, buildings were partially de-roofed, and the brick facade of one building was collapsed. The old rock wool warehouse facility received major irreparable damage. The most concentrated and significant material damage occured near Leeds High School. Fencing around the girls softball field was mangled and twisted, and a large batting catch was overturned and rolled. Tall wooden utility poles with field lighting were snapped half way up. Several homes just to the east of the athletic fields received significant damage. Over the path of this tornado, an estimated 30 to 40 homes and 20 to 30 businesses were damaged or destroyed. Several hundred trees were either snapped off or were uprooted along the path. Aside from the one fatality, no other injuries were reported.

The tornado touched down on Tate Mill Road, just northwest of County Road 140 or Warrior Jasper Road. The tornado tracked east southeast and lifted on Humber Road in the Bagley Community. The tornado damage path was approximately one half mile long and 40 yards wide at its widest point. Several windows were blown out of homes and automobiles. One 18-wheeler carrying a load was overturned. One office trailer was overturned. Several hardwood trees were either snapped off or uprooted. At least one of the trees fell on a home and produced damage. The tornado was witnessed by several people in the area. The highest winds were estimated between 90 and 95 mph...an EF1 tornado. The tornado was on the ground from approximately 314 PM until 316 PM.

The tornado touched down in the Adamsville community, near Abbey Road, and then tracked northeastward. It lifted about 100 yards north of US Highway 78 near Solomon Street. Dozens of trees were either uprooted or snapped off. Many trees fell on homes and caused significant structural damage. One home had a large portion of its roof lifted off.

The tornado touched down in Roebuck Municipal Golf Club at Donna Hawkins Park, west of Interstate 59. It generally tracked eastward, crossed the interstate and affected Roebuck. The tornado dissipated near Roebuck Plaza and US Highway 11. Hundreds of large hardwood trees were either blown over or uprooted. Numerous pine trees were also snapped off along the path. Several of the fallen trees landed on homes and produced substantial damage. An estimated 50 to 100 homes suffered varying degrees of damage.

The tornado touched down near the intersection of US Highway 31 and Main Street. It knocked a few trees down west of US Highway 31, then traveled southeastward and affected the business district along US Highway 31. A few dozen businesses were heavily damaged. The damage included significant roof damage, broken windows, large bay doors blown out, air conditioning unit damage and sign damage. Three vary large air conditioning units were blown off the roof of a K-Mart. These units were estimated at 5 to 8 thousand pounds each. A church along US Highway 31 suffered roof damage. Dozens of homes were damaged and numerous trees were blown down east of US Highway 31 in the vicinity of Tarrant Road and Peterson Road. One woman was injured when a tree fell through the roof of her home. South of Tarrant Road, the tornado mainly produced tree damage. The tornado lifted near Lumen Park and Taihaiti Lane.

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed the damage that affected the Concord community, just northwest of Hueytown. It has been determined that the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an F0 on the Fujita Damage Intensity Scale. A weak tornado briefly touched down in the southwest part of Concord. The tornado produced damage along Smith Road, Masters Road and near Handley Lane. Several trees and large limbs were blown down along the path. Several sheds were overturned, a satellite dish was damaged and at least 5 homes sustained roof damage. This location is just southwest of County Road 46. The tornado damage path was only 0.4 miles long and 75 yards wide at its widest point. The tornado was on the ground at 240 PM CST.

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed the damage that affected the Bagley community. It has been determined that the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an F0 on the Fujita Damage Intensity Scale. The tornado briefly touched down on County 8 or Greathouse Road in the Bagley community. This location is northwest of County Road 140 and northeast of US 78. The tornado damage path was approximately 0.1 miles long and 30 yards wide at its widest point. The tornado was on the ground at approximately 210 PM CST. At the brief touch down point, a few trees were blown down. One home received roof damage and the front porch was destroyed. Debris was scattered 200 to 300 yards. One building sustained minor damage. A large fifth wheel trailer weighing about 3,000 pounds was moved over 20 feet.

The damage from this brief tornado was generally confined to a small area near the intersections of Riles Drive, Lou George Loop and Fletcher Road. The tornado touched down near Riles Drive and damaged a few out-buildings. As the tornado moved northeast, numerous trees were uprooted or snapped off at the intersection of Lou George Loop and Fletcher Road. Debris from one of the out-buildings could be seen at least 40 feet up in a large tree. Two homes received minor damage from fallen trees and one vehicle was destroyed. At least 4 manufactured homes suffered mainly minor damage. The tornado dissipated before reaching Hannah Lane or Harper Road. The tornado path was 1.0 mile long and 50 yards wide at its widest point.

An F0 tornado began near the crest of Shades Mountain in Bluff Park. This tornado traveled east southeast, moving through Bluff Park and Hoover, and ended near Rocky Ridge Road just east of Interstate 65. At least 73 homes were damaged, mainly by fallen trees. At least 5 homes suffered major damage. Several automobiles were damaged or destroyed by fallen trees. Several businesses along US 31 and on Lorna Road sustained varying degrees of roof damage. Numerous trees were knocked down, snapped off, or uprooted along the path. The tornado path was 4.24 miles long and 150 yards wide at its widest point.

An F0 tornado touched down just east of Virginia Drive and traveled east southeast across the southern part of Hueytown. The tornado crossed Hueytown Road and ended just west of Brookline Drive. At least 20 homes were damaged by falling trees and 6 homes suffered major damage. The tornado path was 1.7 miles long and 150 yards wide at its widest point. Thousands of electric customers were left without power for several hours after the storm.

Tree tops were twisted off just NW of Fairfield High School. Other trees were downed in the Ensley area at 30th Street and Avenue W. Several homes had heavy damage from falling trees and many had roof damage from strong winds. One person was injured when falling trees demolished 1 house. The extensive root structure of the huge trees ripped up concrete sidewalks and gas lines in the area and utility poles were snapped off.

Tornado struck in Greenwood section of Bessemer, then moved through a mostly wooded area at tree top level. It moved across Metro Birmingham as a funnel. Damage was near $100,000. A service station was severely damaged, several houses were partially unroofed, a cinder block garage was demolished, and several other houses sustained minor damage. Numerous tree and power line damage.

The small tornado formed about 1 mile south of the Birmingham Weather Service Forecast Office and was observed by personnel of the forecast office moving rapidly northeastward at tree top level. It touched down briefly in an industrial park, doing structural damage to a warehouse and several other buildings. It had apparently risen to tree top level again by the time it reached a fire station and shopping area about 2 miles farther to the NE, where signs were damaged and trees were uprooted. It remained aloft , moving at about 50 mph, and was reported as a funnel cloud about 15 miles NE of the touchdown site. Damage was estimated at $6000.

Small tornado, sighted by several individuals, touched down intermittently along 25 mile path northeastward through Metro Birmingham area from South Shades Crest section to Avondale to near Pinson. One man was injured. Three business firms suffered major roof damage, 1 car was extensively damaged, several homes and business establishments had minor to moderate damage. Numerous tree and power line damage.

The powerful tornado touched down about 4 miles NW of downtown Birmingham. It moved NE at 60 mph finally lifting just E to the city of Tarrant. At its widest point it was 3/4 of a mile. 167 homes were destroyed and 48 had major damage. Daniel Payne College was badly damaged with dollar estimates around 1.3 million. Total storm damage amounted to 15 million dollars.

Tornado touched down at intersection of 19th Street and 10 Ave South. A portion of a roof was ripped off an office building and a roof-mounted air conditioner was hurled northward against an adjacent parking deck. A roof-mounted walking track was ripped off the YMCA building and several windows were broken. Flying debris injured 1 boy at the YMCA, but hospitalization was not required. Several other buildings had windows blown out.
