Jefferson County Tornado - April 11, 2007

National Weather Service meteorologists surveyed storm damage in northwest Jefferson County. It has been determined that the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with estimated maximum winds between 90 and 95 mph.

A tornado touched down on Tate Mill Road...just northwest of County Road 140 or Warrior Jasper Road. The tornado tracked east southeast and lifted on Humber Road in the Bagley Community. The tornado damage path was approximately one half mile long and 40 yards wide at its widest point. Several windows were blown out of homes and automobiles. One 18-wheeler carrying a load was overturned. One office trailer was overturned. Several hardwood trees were either snapped off or uprooted. At least one of the trees fell on a home and produced damage. The tornado was witnessed by several people in the area. The highest winds were estimated between 90 and 95 mph...an EF1 tornado. The tornado was on the ground from approximately 314 PM until 316 PM. A Tornado Watch was in effect for Jefferson County from 140 PM until 800 PM. A Tornado Warning was in effect from 304 PM until 330 PM.
