Storm Relative Velocity Loop

Loop of the storm relative velocity images from the WSR-88D Shelby county airport (KBMX). The radar is to the southwest or lower left hand corner of the images. The warm colors, reds to purple, show movement away from the radar, while cool colors, green to light green, shows movement towards the radar. The tornado that occurred in St. Clair County was from 2:20 PM CST (2020 UTC) to 2:30 PM CST (2030 UTC). The Etowah County tornado occurred from 2:46 PM CST (2046 UTC) to 3:05 PM CST (2105 UTC). The images in this animation are from 2:19 PM CST (2019 UTC) to 3:00 PM CST (2100 UTC). Note, the couplet occurring at 2019 UTC near the word Springville.
