4-Panel Reflectivity

4 panel reflectivity from the KBMX WSR-88D April 8, 1998
This is the 0058 UTC or 758 PM CDT 4 panel reflectivity image from the KBMX WSR-88D at the Shelby County Airport.

The image shows different slices through the storm with altitude. Starting at the top left corner, the antenna is at 0.5 degrees, top right is 1.5 degrees, bottom left panel is 2.4 degrees, and right bottom is 4.3 degrees.

The yellow circle shows the "hook" at 0.5 degrees. As the antenna sweeps through higher portions of the storm, the 1.5 through 4.3 degree panels, lower reflectivity values are surrounded by higher reflectivity values, or a bounded weak echo region (aka BWER). This is an indication of a severe storm with a tornado.

The yellow square is Oak Grove.
