At this time, this was only the 2nd October tornado on record. Dozens of homes were destroyed in rural communities along the path. At least 11 died along the Pike Crenshaw County line. The tornado started about 10 miles north of the Alabama Florida line and traveled ENE to within about 10 miles of the Alabama Georgia line. The damage path was 400 yards wide at its widest point.
One man was killed as a service station, 2 homes, and a store were destroyed.
