Event Summary for Hurricane Rita - 21 Tornadoes Confirmed

The remnants of Hurricane Rita, winds above the surface, saturated low level conditions and instability all combined to produce several tornadoes in an narrow band across west and northwest Alabama. At this time, 21 tornadoes have been confirmed from the mid afternoon hours through the mid evening hours on Sunday, September 25. Only two injuries were reported with the tornado activity.  These injuries occurred in the Buhl community of western Tuscaloosa county. Many of these tornadoes have been captured on film or video.
