A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has evaluated eyewitness reports and surveyed the damage along the interstate. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado.

Around 730 am August 25th...A brief tornado touched down and snapped off several trees, between mile markers 154 and 155 on Interstate 65. This tornado was associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay. The tornado has been rated an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Damage estimates were consistent with winds around 70 mph.
