A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has surveryed the storm damage in Marion County and it has been determined that a tornado touched down just south of the intersection of Marion County Road 19 and Alabama Road 129 near the community of Thorn Hill. The tornado traveled to the northeast and lifted as it crosed over Alabama Road 129. Along the path, the tornado damaged the roofs of 4 homes, as well as 3 outbuildings. Also along the path, the tornado uprooted 20 hardwood trees and snapped another 5 in half. Damage estimates were consistent with winds of approximately 100 mph, which would make this tornado an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
