A National Weather Service Damage Assessment Team has surveyed the storm damage in Lamar County. It has been determined the damage was the result of a tornado. The tornado has been rated an EF-0 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Winds were estimated at 50-60 mph.

A public official observed a brief tornado crossing Highway 17 in the Hightogy area. No damage was found. The tornado was estimated at 10 yards wide and on the ground for less than one tenth of a mile.
