Employing the latest technology, scientific techniques, and sound meteorological reasoning, our mission is to serve the people by initiating and distributing timely and effective warnings, statements, and forecasts to save lives!

The National Weather Service, or NWS, in Birmingham, Alabama, provides a variety of meteorological and hydrological services for parts of north, central, and south Alabama. In addition, staff meteorologists conduct studies to improve weather forecasts and warnings for these areas. Hopefully, this web page will be a way for us to communicate and share information with people interested in weather. The office is located at the Shelby County Airport.
