On Wednesday, November 9, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) at 1 p.m. CST.  Due to this, we will conduct the routine weekly NOAA Weather Radio test on Tuesday, November 8 at the normally scheduled time, weather permitting.

ON NOVEMBER 9 AT APPROXIMATELY 1PM CST...THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY WILL CONDUCT A NATIONWIDE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY
ALERT SYSTEM.

TO AVOID ANY CONFLICT WITH THE NATIONWIDE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY
ALERT SYSTEM...THE NOAA WEATHER RADIO ROUTINE WEEKLY TEST THAT
WOULD NORMALLY BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY...NOVEMBER 9...WILL NOW BE HELD
ON TUESDAY...NOVEMBER 8 AT THE NORMALLY SCHEDULED TIME.

THE NATIONWIDE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST WILL BE HEARD ON THE
LOCAL RADIO AND SEEN ON LOCAL...CABLE...AND SATELLITE TELEVISION FOR
A PERIOD OF 30 TO 45 SECONDS.  HOWEVER...THE NATIONAL TEST MESSAGE
WILL NOT BE BROADCAST OVER NOAA WEATHER RADIO AS THIS TEST IS
INTENDED TO TEST OTHER PARTS OF THE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.

THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TEST MAY LOOK LIKE REGULAR
LOCAL EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM TESTS THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE ALREADY
FAMILIAR WITH...BUT THERE WILL BE SOME DIFFERENCES IN WHAT VIEWERS
WILL SEE AND HEAR.  THE AUDIO MESSAGE WILL REPEAT...THIS IS A TEST...
BUT THE TELEVISION...CABLE OR SATELLITE TEST MESSAGE SCROLL MAY NOT
INDICATE...THIS IS A TEST.  THE MESSAGE WILL LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY
30 TO 45 SECONDS AND THEN REGULAR PROGRAMMING WILL RESUME.
