Tornadic Storm

April 20, 2010 (Photos Below)

On the evening of April 20, 2010 a storm developed near Boys Ranch, TX and moved southeast to just west of Bushland. When the storm was west of Bushland, there were multiple reports of a tornado. As the tornado moved further south into Randall County, there were more reports of a tornado.

...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DAMAGE SURVEY CONFIRMS TWO TORNADOES
ACROSS THE SOUTHCENTRAL TEXAS PANHANDLE ON TUESDAY APRIL 20
2010...

THE FIRST TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN THREE MILES WEST OF BUSHLAND AND JUST
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 40 AT 704 PM CDT. THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND
FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE WITH A MAXIMUM WIDTH OF 50 YARDS. THE
TORNADO DISSIPATED AT APPROXIMATELY 709 PM. THE TORNADO REMAINED OVER
OPEN COUNTRY AND NO DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED. THE TORNADO HAS BEEN
PRELIMINARY RATED AS AN EF0. THERE WERE NO DEATHS OR INJURIES
REPORTED.

THE SECOND TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY THREE MILES NORTHEAST
OF UMBARGER AT 747 PM CDT. THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND FOR
APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE OR LESS. THE TORNADO DISSIPATED AT
APPROXIMATELY 749 PM. THE TORNADO REMAINED OVER OPEN COUNTRY AND NO
DAMAGE WAS OBSERVED FROM THE TORNADO. HOWEVER...SEVERAL HOMES NEAR
THE TORNADO RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE FROM WIND BLOWN HAIL LIKELY AS AS A
RESULT OF STRONG STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. NORTH FACING SIDING WAS
DAMAGED AND WINDOWS WERE BLOWN OUT OF SEVERAL RESIDENCES. THE TORNADO
HAS BEEN PRELIMINARY RATED AS AN EF0. THERE WERE NO DEATHS OR
INJURIES REPORTED.

            BLOWN OUT AND NORTH FACING SIDING DAMAGED. HUNDREDS OF
            ACRES OF CROPS ALSO DESTROYED. WIND DAMAGE LIKELY DUE TO
            THE REAR FLANK DOWNDRAFT.
