Moderate to major river flooding was observed across parts of eastern North Carolina, eastern South Carolina and southeastern Virginia during the period November 21 through December 1, 2006. The flooding was a result of basin average rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches falling on already very wet soils from heavy rainfall the week prior. A total of 31 points went to minor flood, 10 points to moderate flood, and 3 points had risen to major flood category.
