Do not attempt to drive over a flooded road. The depth of water is not always obvious. The road bed may be washed out under the water, and you could be stranded, trapped or washed away.

  • Anticipate flooding and plan route to safety in advance
  • Watch for flooding from nearby and distant thunderstorms in mountainous terrain and near burn scars
  • Never camp or play in arroyos or low spots
  • Use the latest hazardous weather outlook and forecasts
  • Heed watches and warnings
  • Own and monitor NOAA Weather Radios
  • Report all minor and major floods to NWS and/or local authorities
