An upper level disturbance crossed New Mexico on April 9 and resulting in a variety of weather across the state. Throughout the morning, scattered showers and thunderstorms, some producing heavy rain, moved to the east across much of the state. By afternoon, the thunderstorms increased across the eastern plains and severe weather was reported by late afternoon and into the early evening. A tornado and several funnel clouds were observed south of Roswell and near Midway and Hagerman, while nickel-sized hail was reported near Elida and Portales. |
