Weather Radio News! A new transmitter was installed at Santa Fe on August 6th! This transmitter will continue to operate from Tesuque Peak under the old call sign, WXJ-33, at a frequency of 162.550 MHz. This new transmitter will resolve the outages and low power problems that were becoming more common. A new transmitter is still expected to be installed for Albuquerque within the next few months to replace the current aging transmitter. In addition, we continue to expect a new transmitter to be installed in the Tucumcari area within the next year. When this occurs, the Clovis transmitter will be moved south toward Portales. These two transmitters will fill in some coverage gaps across the eastern plains of New Mexico. Both transmitters will be programmed by the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
