THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH AT TALLAHASSEE WAS 59.2 DEGREES...1.9 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH WAS 84 DEGREES ON THE 29TH. THE LOWEST WAS 26 DEGREES ON THE 25TH. THERE WERE 3 DAYS WITH MINIMUM TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES WHICH WAS NORMAL. RAINFALL MEASURED AT THE TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL AIRPORT FOR MARCH WAS 2.41 INCHES...4.06 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THE GREATEST AMOUNT IN A 24-HOUR PERIOD WAS 1.74 INCHES ON THE 7TH. THERE WAS 1 DAY WITH THUNDERSTORMS AT THE AIRPORT AND IT PRODUCED A PEAK WIND GUST OF 43 MPH FROM THE WEST ON THE 7TH. THE 7TH WAS A STORMY DAY ACROSS THE TALLAHASSEE AREA WITH NUMEROUS REPORTS OF WIND DAMAGE. A SURVEY TEAM FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONFIRMED THAT AN EF-1 TORNADO PRODUCED THE DAMAGE IN CAPITOLA JUST EAST OF TALLAHASSEE. THE OUTLOOK FOR APRIL ISSUED BY THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER PREDICTS AN ENHANCED CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND BELOW NORMAL RAINFALL. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR APRIL IS 66.4 DEGREES AND NORMAL RAINFALL IS 3.59 INCHES. ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER THERE IS A 52% CHANCE THAT THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE 3-MONTH PERIOD FROM APRIL THROUGH JUNE WILL BE ABOVE NORMAL (> 73.5 DEGREES)...A 30% CHANCE NEAR NORMAL (72.1 - 73.5) AND A 18% CHANCE BELOW NORMAL (< 72.1).
